Steven A. Rupert, D.O. and Pat Borst, APRN-BC
Dr. Steven A. Rupert graduated from Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine, after which he completed an M.D. residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Rupert is board certified in PM&R by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and similarly board certified in Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology, being one of the few specialists in Evansville having earned this certification.
Dr. Rupert is a founding member of both the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the Indiana Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and President of the Indiana Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is also a delegate to the Indiana State Medical Association. He is Secretary of the Vanderburgh County Medical Society. In addition, Dr. Rupert sits on the Carrier Advisory Committee representing Interventional Pain Physicians.
In addition to his practice in Pain Management, Dr. Rupert is active in educational and training service, participating as a preceptor for Family Practice residents at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He has also served as an instructor in the techniques of implanting spinal cord stimulator devices as a part of programs offered by Advance Neuromodulation Systems, Inc., Plano, Texas.
His interests include the development of clinical approaches to ensuring the safe, effective, and prudently-monitored use of pain relieving narcotics and other high-potency pain medications, and he is developing an Internet-based resource for achieving this end.
Dr. Rupert is married and the father of 6 children. His activities include leadership positions in the Boy Scouts of America program in which he has accumulated 30 years of service at the troop and pack level. As a young man he served two years on a church mission in Hong Kong where he learned Chinese.
Pat Borst, APRN-BC
Pat received her BS in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana and her MS in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also completed the Adult Nurse Practitioner Program.
As an NP, Pat is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
She is a charter member of the Tri-State Advanced Practice Nurse Association and has experience in occupational health, critical care, heart and lung transplantation, and cardiology.
